In case you missed the last Tryst night at The Little Red Studio, here is what you missed.

For extra credit, can you name the video game that my costume was an homage to?

It dawned on me this morning as I was shaving at the gym some things are too cool to be lost to the sands of time and the march of technology. The sound a straight razor makes as it slides, blade bright and wet, across skin. The sense of satisfaction as my motorcycle roars to life when I use the old school kick starter. The joy in mixing a cocktail that has been forgotten, tasting the pleasure of using just the right, hard to find ingredients as opposed to taking the easy route and opting for something premixed or "simple"

Funny, I'm all for technology and progress. Hell, I'm doing this update via my phone. A phone that is packing more tech in its tiny plastic shell than we used to land on the moon.

The faster our lives become and more prepackaged life gets, the more we need to slow down, embrace lost things and enjoy the retro.

Let's face it, things are "classic" for a reason.

So I totally yanked this image from Facebook... but I just liked it too much.

While I should go on about the inverted ebi tie I did or how amazed both I, and the crowd were too, by the ease with which she, a self confessed rope virgin, took to this very tough and very physically strenuous tie. Nope, what I like is image is the moment she and her fiance, on the right, are sharing here. Part fascination, part admiration, and lots of love.

Rope is all about connection, connection between bodies, between players and, like in this shot, connection between performer and audience.

Hanky Codes, a field guide

Footage from IMsl 2010, the folks at Carnal Nation tell me that my official "coverage" videos will go live as soon as I can come up with a good name for my regular feature on their site. I guess "Roving Trouble Maker" is not going to cut it. :)

Question is, can you spot me in this sea of hanky clad asses?

A late nite movie recomendation
Hulu - The Auteur - Watch the full feature film now.

Video description: A sweet comedy about the world's greatest living porn director.

I found this little indie gem on Hulu the other day while sick, now in addition to reaffirming that Portland is just about the most awesome city for micro film making, it was just sweet and very fun to watch.

I've always liked the business of porn, the way the medium has both reflected pop culture as well as how it has pushed both technology and free speech in ways not many realize but benefit from every day. As of late I've had the pleasure of getting to know some of the early pioneers of the medium, from starlets of the "golden age" to just tonight meeting one of the originators of the whole "Boy Bondage Porn Films".

We are so overwhelmed with the stuff today that it is hard to imagine a world when this was underground, illegal and well dangerous. Not sure where I am going with this post, just that there is more history here than just the sex we see on the screen, there are lives and loves. People who created things that, to some, made them heroes while to others a social pariah.

Anyways, hope you enjoy the film. I think it was just a tad brilliant.
